Bass anglers are welcomed to participate in the annual Bass Lodge Ron Sattler Memorial Fishing Competition which is held the late February every year and coordinated by Michael Clark. The first competition was held in 2011 with over 60 people meeting for a briefing session at the Lodge before taking to the waters of the Macleay River. Anglers came from up and down the NSW coast and inland. Fish were caught right up and down the river and tributaries with some anglers hiking into some of the more remote gorges at the head of the Macleay. The number of fish caught and released was astounding with many anglers reporting catches of over 100 fish. The best fish at 52cm (measured to the fork) was caught by Peter Lees in one of his uniquely hand crafted and very effective cedar lures. Everyone enjoyed the great food, generous raffles and prizes that were handed out. Juniors were especially looked after with the full intention of the organising committee to create a friendly and fun competition. Look out for write ups on the event by Dave Seimen's, Scott Amon and Michael Clark who attended the event. Full information will be made available on the competitions own website.
